This eye catching runner was woven by artisans in Antigua, Guatemala who dye the individual threads of the fabric to create a larger pattern. This runner's style is named "Serpentina" in honor of celebrations and good times. We hope that it can reflect the good times in your household, as well as those of the artisans who crafted it.
Who made this product? A group of Guatemalan artisans known as "los Gigantes" use traditional weaving techniques and foot looms to make their beautiful textiles. By dyeing the threads before they are woven into the overall fabric these artisans can determine the design of their textiles.
Why is it ethical? Sobremesa by Greenheart works directly with the artisans to ensure fair trade principles are upheld. These artisans forgo mechanical weaving, choosing traditional foot-powered looms. And with that powerful choice, leaving behind less of a carbon footprint.
