A touch of green in your kitchen will remind you of the sustainable path that fair trade pursues! Our artisans in Antigua, Guatemala are ethically empowered to weave these towels with their traditional methods, all the while building a more sustainable community.
Who made this product? Four brothers in Antigua, Guatemala started El Tun twenty-five years ago to preserve and share their traditional methods of weaving. They inherited a rich history of passion and quality which is spun into each fiber on their looms, powered by nothing more than the pulse of their feet. It’s from the very beat of their foot on the treadle that these four brothers took their name. El Tun references the traditional drum found throughout Guatemala. The steady beat of their work preserves both tradition and their environment by forgoing machinery. These towels are a few of their products carried by Sobremesa
Why is it ethical? Sobremesa by Greenheart works directly with the artisans to ensure fair trade principles are upheld. These artisans forgo robot machinery for good old-fashioned foot-powered looms that won't leave a carbon footprint on the environment.
